STI Stirling engine Cryocooler

This is Radio Frequency filter that operates at cryo temperatures of around -200C. It uses a free piston Stirling engine that is electrically driven to cool a chamber down to these very low temperatures. The chamber houses some electric components that can filter out unwanted signals. At room temperature it filters the signal but losses a substantial amount of signal strength. By using the cryocooler to cool the components to superconducting temperatures the signal can be filtered while keeping most of the signal strength.

This device is used to filter mobile/cell phone signals. In other worlds it helps make your phone signal better! It is surplus and may no longer meet its original specification. However Stirling engine enthusiasts will be interested in removing the filtering components and just using the Stirling engine.
